Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants, West Palearctic Regional Section (IOBC-WPRS), we are pleased to announce the upcoming 11th IOBC-WPRS Meeting on Integrated Protection of Olive Crops, which will be held in Chania, Crete, Greece, from 1 to 4 June 2027. The meeting will be organized under the auspices of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization ‘Dimitra’.

Olive cultivation is deeply rooted in the history, economy, and culture of the Mediterranean region, and continues to face significant challenges in the context of climate change, emerging pests and diseases, and the need for more sustainable production systems. This meeting aims to provide a dynamic forum for scientists, early-career researchers, advisors, and stakeholders to share knowledge, present recent findings, and discuss innovative solutions for the biological and integrated control of pests, diseases, and weeds in olive crop.

The meeting will cover a wide range of topics, including integrated pest management, biological control, agroecology, precision agriculture, and sustainable farming practices. Through keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, and discussions, participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and foster collaborations.

We are especially pleased to host this event in Chania, on the island of Crete, one of the most important olive-producing regions in Greece, known for its long-standing tradition in olive cultivation and its unique agroecosystems. Beyond the scientific program, participants will have the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage, landscapes, and hospitality of the region. For this purpose, a one-day excursion will be offering participants the opportunity to experience the region’s long-standing historical and cultural heritage. In addition, a rich gala dinner will be held, where participants will enjoy authentic Greek cuisine, accompanied by live traditional music and Cretan dances, offering a complete experience of local traditions.

A range of interactive events and awards will be also available, particularly aimed at engaging students and early-career scientists.

We warmly encourage researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and professionals from all relevant disciplines to join us and contribute to this important event. Your participation will be essential to the success of the meeting and to advancing sustainable olive protection.
